Manchester City Eyeing on Barcelona Defender Dani Alves

Barcelona right back Dani Alves has joined Manchester City’s growing list of transfer targets in Summer transfer window. City has already revealed they would continue their spending spree this summer too in order to strengthen the squad.

Dani Alves is currently on international duty with Brazil in South Africa and the right back has not extended his Barcelona contract. City is expected to make a lucrative offer for the 27-year-old. The Daily Mail has reported that Alves is also considering a move away from Barcelona.

Alves may not have to face intense competition at City for a regular place in its starting line up. In fact, there is no big star in his position at Manchester City.

Money has not been a problem for Manchester City since its Arab take over in 2008. Last summer, they spent huge sum of money, but ended the season empty handed. However, that does not seem to stop their ‘big spending’ attitude. Rather, City is already planning a number of big-money signings including Aston Villa’s James Milner, Valencia’s David Silva.

It is expected that Dani Alves would take the final decision on his Barcelona future after returning from World Cup 2010. Manchester City would, however, continue pushing Barcelona to come to the negotiation table.
