Micromax launched Q55 Bling IIFA Mobile phone in Sri Lanka for IIFA 2010

At the ongoing IIFA event, Indian handset producer, Micromax, unveiled a special phone, the Micromax Q55 Bling IIFA Mobile phone. The phone will be launched at the IIFA Awards event on June 5, 2010. This year, the IIFA Awards ceremony has been held in Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka.

Vikas Jain, business director, Micromax, said that the special edition phone comes with Swarovski Elements along with the videos of previous IIFA editions. The phone also has an IIFA insignia on its back.

He said, "Micromax looks at Sri Lanka as a very important business territory... This launch gives us a chance to take the success of Micromax from India to all SAARC nations. Sri Lankan market has immense potential for the growth of mobile phone industry and there is a huge untapped telecom consumer segment waiting for our range of innovative mobile phone models."

Dialoge, the biggest network operator in Sri Lanka, will sell the phone. The company will provide a SIM card for the phone. The Micromax Q55 Bling IIFA Mobile phone will be priced at Rs.5,500.

Micromax also entered into a distribution arrangement with Infinity Lanka Holdings. The company will sell Micromax products through its 1,500 stores across the country. Micromax would also launch seven handsets and 3G USB data cards that cost ranging from LKR 3,000-2,5000.

This is the second international foray of Micromax after Nepal. After Sri Lanka, the company would launch its products in Bangladesh, Middle and Brazil.

Micromax, with its focus on R&D, wants to create pathbreaking technology into the telecom sector. The company is looking forward to fulfill the needs of different consumers. The company would focus on the rural market and youth segment.

In order to raise brand awareness in the SAARC region, the company already acquired sponsorships for major events like Asia Cup, The Tri-Nation Cricket series, IIFA 2010.

  1. yes we as indians need to invest more in the sri lankan market mainly for several reasons.

    1)The sri lankan market is the fastest growing market in the south east asian region. and an unimaginable development of infrastructure is taking place just one year in to peace.
    2)Physically it is very close to our motherland and has no restrictions for any form bilateral trade.
    3)Sri lanka has lots of potential for growth in the technology industry and motor vehicle industry.
    4)GDP per capita is the highest in the south east asian region meaning people are willing to spend more on goods and services.
    5)China is already the biggest investor in the island nation and are reaping the benefits before we the nearest could even think
    6)Sri lanka is economically and militarily very stable compared to many neighbouring nations

    So don't tell that i never warned you =)
