A number of things could come into effect to decide who would go through to the knock out stage from Group C. First of all, USA and England are level on 2 points with Slovenia leading the group with 4 points. Though Algeria could manage only 1 point so far, there is a little chance they could reach the next round. Overall, the Group C is still open for all of its four members.

USA would not have to bother about the result of England match, unless they can not win over Algeria. Even a draw could see USA qualify for the second round, if England is defeated or held to a draw by Slovenia. However, if both England and USA draw their final group matches, then goal difference would come into consideration.

Given Algeria’s excellent defending against England, USA can not afford to take the North Africans lightly. In the presence of Bougherra and Belhadj, they have a solid defense.

Algeria would most probably continue their counter-attacking style against USA. In that case, the pace of Belhadj and Ziani could be a threat for the US defense. Mehdi Lacen, Foued Kadir and Hassan Yebda could pull the string in the midfield with Karim Matmour playing up front.

USA players showed their character by coming back from a 2-goal deficit to clinch a point against Slovenia. While their excellent scoring form could boost up their confidence level, their troubled back line could be a matter of worry for coach Bob Bradley. However, the US defense is pretty much experience to deal with high profile matches.

Cherundolo has good attacking intent, while Howard is perhaps one of the best goalkeepers in the tournament. Onyewu and DeMerit can deal with pressure very well, while captain Bocanegra ensures solidity in the defense.

USA midfield features two classy players in Clint Dempsey and Landon Donovan, who would be playing his 11th World Cup match, and thus, equaling the USA record of Cobi Jones and Earnest Stewart. In the up front, Jozy Altidore poses considerable amount of threat for the Algerian defense, given his youthful exuberance and height.

While USA could be happy to know that Algeria could not score in their last four World Cup matches, they would also be worried to know the fact that they could not win any of their last Group matches in their 6 previous appearances in World Cup finals since 1950.

Considering all the facts, it seems USA would easily win the match and a 1-0 scoreline in favor of the Americans is very possible.
