It was a highly entertaining match with the players of both teams gave their best efforts. Unfortunately, Brazilian captain Felipe Melo was shown red card in the 73rd minute and except this, it was more or less a clean and fast paced match. It will surely enter as a classic match in the history of World Cup Football.
The match reminded many fans of the Argentina vs Netherlands match in the quarterfinal stage of 1998. In that match, Argentina lost to Netherlands just by 2-1 (same margin) and upto that stage, Argentina was playing very well.
Back to the today’s just concluded Brazil vs Netherlands match, Brazil took the lead in the 10th minute through a goal of Felipe Melo. However, more credit goes to Netherlands defense for poor defending than Robinho. The first half finished that way with Brazil leading 1-0. In the first half, Dunga’s team played much butter and attacked continuously.
In the second half, The Dutch were in their best form of the tournament. Right from the start of the second half, they kept pressure and it paid off very soon. In the 53rd minute, Netherlands could equalize from an own goal by Brazilian defender.
After the red card shown to Felipe Melo, the match became easier for the Dutch players. They mounted some more good attacks but the score did not change.
