Moussa Dembele Linked with Birmingham City Move

Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish is now reportedly eyeing on Belgian striker Moussa Dembele who is currently playing for Dutch club AZ Alkmaar. Seeing no prospect in his attempt to sign Fulham’s Bobby Zamora, McLeish has started looking for other options to strengthen his forward line up.

Moussa Dembele, who has already represented Belgium in 28 international matches and found the net on 5 occasions, has been in good form recently at club level. The 23-year-old joined AZ Alkmaar in 2006 and has so far played 118 matches and scored 28 goals in the Netherlands league.

Moussa Dembele was earlier linked with a move to Italian club Fiorentina who later on backed out from their attempt due to Dembele’s personal demand. Dembele is a versatile player who can occupy either of the two wings and play up front.

Birmingham City finished 9th last season with 50 points to their name in the Premier League, but the club struggled a lot due to their poor scoring. They scored only 38 goals throughout the last season and only 5 other teams scored less than that. In the top ten, they are the lowest scoring side.

Naturally, adding new striker to the squad has been a priority for Alex McLeish this summer. Though it seems Bobby Zamora is still in his target list, Moussa Dembele looks to be a quality option for McLeish.
