Romelu Lukaku to Join Chelsea: A Rumor or Truth?

Reports out in the media claim that17-year-old Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku is very close to join Premier League club Chelsea. A picture posted on social networking site Facebook shows Romelu Lukaku standing at the Chelsea’s home stadium wearing the their jersey.

However, Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti later on clarified that he was on a stadium tour. The 17-year-old Anderlecht wonder-kid has been a target of a number of top European clubs including Arsenal, Real Madrid and the player himself is also reportedly desperate to move to a major European league.

Son of a former Belgian/Congolese professional footballer Roger Lukaku, Romelu is a highly rated young player who has a lot of potential. He has already made his international debut with Belgium national team. Since 2008, he represented Anderlecht in 34 matches and scored 15 goals.

However, Romelu Lukaku’s Wikipedia entry shows that the player has already signed for Chelsea. However, Chelsea’s Wikipedia entry does not show Romelu in the club roster. So, it is not yet clear if a deal for the 17-year-old Anderlecht prodigy is done or Chelsea is now on the negotiation table with the Belgian club.

Chelsea has recently signed a young potential Czech player. So, there is nothing surprising if the Blues signs Romelu from Anderlecht. Romelu is now being called the ‘new Didier Drogba’ because of his scoring prowess. He has got an excellent vision for scoring and pace to beat the opposition defenders. Moreover, he gets aerial advantage too thanks to his 6 feet 4 inches height.

Overall, neither Chelsea nor Anderlecht has officially revealed anything about a deal for Romelu Lukaku yet. So, it seems the news of Romelu joining Chelsea is still a rumor, but there is every possibility both the clubs could officially reveal that the deal is done.
