Daughters day 2010 in India: More than Greeting cards and Quotes

September 26 2010 is celebrated as the daughters day in India and many people are now searching about quotes and greeting cards related to this day. In fact, at this moment, in Google Trends India, keywords related to the day are dominating in search trends.
Anyway, India is a country in which being born as a daughter can be a bad curse in many families. Millions of couples get unhappy when they find that a female baby is born. In fact, some of them are so unhappy that they even kill the fetus of female babies in the wombs.
Thus, according to a report of Indian Express:
Nearly five million female foetuses are aborted every year, more than 10,000 girl babies are victims of infanticide and every sixth girl child’s death is due to gender discrimination. Also, 50 per cent of all sexual assaults are committed against girls aged 15 or younger,” says Col Harinder Chehal, director, Fortis Hospital Mohali. “Unless women’s health improves, health and well-being of society will continue to be poor,” he says.

The stats are nothing to be excited about. It is shameful and tragic. The reality is that most people in India are not conscious about this tragedy. Dowry is a big problem in every part of the country. What is even more tragic is that many educated girls suffer from the matter of dowry.
Therefore Daughters day 2010 in India should be celebrated with the hope and resolve that condition will improve for daughters in every family in every part of the country.
If you are a father or a mother then instead of searching for greeting cards and quotes about Daughters Day, give your daughter some love and respect.
