Apple iPhone and iPod touch battery getting drained by iOS 4

Apple iPhone 4 has had a tremendous opening but not everything is perfect with the phone. Already many users are very much unhappy with Apple iPhone 4 display and antenna.

On June 21, 2010, Apple released its iOS4. For a long time, Apple iPhone users were asking Apple to add multi-tasking feature to their favorite smart phone and Apple granted their wish but the new iOS4 caused another headache among iPhone and iPod Touch users.

After upgrading their phones to iOS4, many users experienced their battery losing power quickly. Hours after upgrading to iOS4, many users found poor battery.

PC World reported that users who upgraded their iPhone 3Gs and 3G and iPod Touch observed that their batteries were losing power very quickly. iOs4’s multi-tasking feature is being blamed for this but the real reason behind this power loss is not known yet.

Apple added multi-tasking feature to its iOS4 to help business people. Though the multi-tasking is very limited but the problem with multi-tasking is, applications working on the background would drain battery power.

The only solution against this problem is taking up the $69 protection plan. If you see that your battery charges are dropping significantly then you should go for the $69 protection plan. Under this plan, Apple would replace your battery. The battery of the iPhone is inseparable which means you would get another iPhone.

iOS4 Update: All You Need To Know

At the Apple World Wide Developers’ Conference (WWDC) 2010, Steve Jobs, unveiled the new Apple iPhone 4. On June 21, 2010 Apple released iOS4, the new operating system for its iPhone, and iPod Touch.

The iOS4 comes with many new features. For a long time, Apple iPhone users have been complaining about the lack of multi-tasking feature on iPhone. Apple listened to their objection and fulfilled their wishes. The iOS4 adds multi-tasking capability to iPhone.

Many people are now surfing the web to get the new iOS4. If you are still having difficulty to update your iPod Touch or iPhone then here is how you can do it.

First and foremost, the new iOS4 will not support all iPhone and iPod Touch models. If you are using jailbreak of unlocked iPhone, then you should better stay away from the upgrade. You would have to wait till the iPhone developer team releases Jailbreak or Unlock Tools for iOS 4.0.

The iPhone 3GS has full compatibility with iOS 4.0 but will not be able to run four features. The iPhone 3G will partially support iOS4.0. iPhone 3G users would not be able to multitask, load wallpaper and use Bluetooth keyboard to operate their iPhone 3G.

iOS4 would not support iPhone 2G (blame the hardware) but there is a custom modded 3.1.3 firmware with iOS4 features available.

The iPod Touch 3G, like the iPhone 3GS, will fully support iOS 4.0 except few features will be missing. The iPod Touch 2G will partially support iOS 4.0. It would not support multi-tasking, wallpaper and Bluetooth keyboard. iPod Touch 1G will not support iOS 4.

Apple iOS4 installation: Many users are facing problems

The Apple iOS4 was released on June 21, 2010 and so far it is getting mixed response. Many people are facing problems while upgrading to iOS4.

This is a significant update for iPhone users because for the first time, they would be able to multitask with their favorite smartphone, a feature users have been craving for a long time.

Wired.com reported that the iOS4 would allow people to use a Bluetooth keyboard to type on iPhone (both iPhone 4 and 3G S) and iPod Touch and control various other functions. This is a great feature which even Apple highlighted on its website.

The new iPhone, after iOS4 being installed, would also work with the iPad keyboard dock. However, there is a big problem, you might do some damage to your iPhone as you would have to squeeze it into the dock connector. Apple iPod Touch on the contrary, would fit in well for it is slimmer.

If you try to connect the iPhone with a USB keyboard via the USB camera connection kit it would not work.

Many users faced problems while upgrading their devices or after upgrading. Apple support forum is getting reports about “freezing phones” while the user was upgrading the software. Many users said that their phone suddenly rebooted in the middle of a call or entries disappearing from contacts.

There were also reports of iPod Touch crushing immediately after upgrading to iOS4.

Facing problems while major system upgrade is very common. It is very important that users keep a back-up of their important files and documents.

The best solution for iPhone users if they face any problem after installing the iOS4 is “factory reset.” After reset, they would have to re-sync the phone and then start once again. Many users succeeded in this way by linking the phone to an unused PC.
